    K0 - 3 speed - clutch adjust / repair / replace

I tried to piggy back on another thread, but I think I'll start fresh here. I have done quite a few searches and read many replies.

I am having a very difficult time switching gears. It seems to pull fine once in gear, but really needs jammed to switch up from 1 to 2 to 3. Then coming back I have to reach down and pull up on the shifter to get back to neutral. I have loosened the nut and turned the screw until it makes contact, then out 1/8 turn. Then repeated the procedure on 1/16th or so......then again and leaving it touch - and no improvement. Sometimes it seems something is loose in there. I have heard about a "loose shift star" I wonder if thats what I have going on since it pulls fine once in gear. I don't want to pull it apart without proper replacement parts in hand - as I just started riding it to work. What are the wear parts? Clutch disks (2), springs (4) and some screws I am supposed to strip out when I open it?

I found this as far as changing out the disks - still having trouble locating the shift star

    changing clutch

This instruction seems to be different than the ones I have gotten

    adjustment

It says to turn the screw counterclockwise then back off clockwise which seems to be opposite my prior instructions

SO ANYHOW.....I followed these instructions and now I can shift - and I am sure I can fine tune it.

Hey thats very nice - and almost exactly what I ended up doing. I do like having more than 2nd gear driving around town. I still need to adjust more but its is far better now and I don't think I need clutch plates.
