    K1 Seat Covers

Has anyone ever purchased a seat cover from Bob's General Service?: Honda Seat Covers

I'm looking for a seat cover with heat pressed seams for an HK1 and he has them. He also offers cast foam. Any experience with these covers or foam or any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Also, even though the covers are different on the K1, K2 etc., are the profiles of the seat foam the same?

I had him redo a k1 seat of mine last year and it was stitched. I dont believe all of them are heat pressed although they may be now. Definitely double check with him first. The stitched cover looks good and fits great. I reused the old foam so i cant comment on that. If he does do heat pressed now i will be sending him my seat for the new cover...

$55 for a cover with heat pressed seams and Honda logo. $50 for cast foam.

That's a cheap price for a repop cover. Might be worth a shot. If it's not what you want, you could always resell it. Molded foam is a can of worms unto itself. Anyone who's done upholstery restoration whether automotive, furniture, or in this case bike, has had to deal with the virtual disappearance of latex rubber foam. The material has gone the way of chrome and its properties are about as easy to replicate. Aside from the correct shape/dimensions, the biggest issue with foam is compensating for the difference in density. In recent years, the market has been dominated by rock-hard foam and that can be a huge problem. The OE latex foam compressed relatively easily (a bit too easily if you weight more than about 100 lbs). Simply duplicating that size & shape in overly-stiff foam will can leave you with a nightmare scenario of stretched seams. If riding figures into your plans, then comfort will be a factor as well. The only way I know of getting the right fit and firmness to suit the indivudual is to work with an upholstery shop. Still more art than science, but you'll get a lot closer to "ideal" on the first try.

He just got back to me again. Says that only his K0 covers have heat pressed seams, not the K1 covers. Sorry for the confusion.
