the mistery blue wire in the trunk of my chaly

So im working on getting all the electrical sorted out on my chaly and ive run into a solid blue wire i cant figure out. Its in the trunk of the bike near the battery. When i got the bike most of the wires were not connected to anything and some of them were stripped with no connectors.

I have the wiring diagram for it and i dont see what the heck its for. I see a solid blue wire used between the headlight dimmer switch and the headlight but thats it. It would make more sense if it was a blue with a white stripe.

Could the white stripe worn off, and if you look at the diagram what the heck is the blue/white stripe wire coming from the main switch used for?

My initial guess is that the wire in your trunk is the light blue wire for the right turn signal. Have you checked that the blue wire for the high beam runs to the headlight (and is a different shade of blue?)

    Cheers!

I've seen all sorts of wiring anomalies with non-US spec bikes...variations that appeared to be OEM yet not shown on any schematic available. My `72 JDM ST70 (orginally 6v w/turn signals) had an extra solid blue wire that was tied-into the (-) battery terminal at the modular plug. I modified the wire harness and ran a single ground bus. With everything ultimately grounded to the (-) side of the battery, running multiple "dedicated" ground leads is needlessly complicated, IMO.

The lead in question could have been added by a previous owner. Just for peace of mind, I'd pull the harness and trace the lead back to its source. 6V bike wiring is simple and widely interchangeable between models, with just a little electrical know-how.
