    Oil drip from gear shifter

    Hi. After driving my newly running CT70 for a few weeks now I have noticed a few drops of oil under the bike after it sits over night. It must be a very slow leak as there are usually only two or three drops of oil under the bike. I have traced the leak to the gear shifter where it attaches to the engine case.

    Is this easily fixed? What, diagnosically is wrong?

    Thanks!

    There is an oil seal gasket which goes over your shiftshaft . Its just like the one on your kickstart shaft on the opposite side of the engine. You probably just need a new seal.

    To add;
    Make sure the engine breather tube is clear.

    To add to what Hondaman has said, you probably just need a new seal. Inexpensive, and fairly easy to change. Honda has them, or any of the online parts houses (I like DRATV). Remove the shifter arm, and you will get a good look at the seal. Use a small, hooked pick to pull out the old seal. No engine disassembly required. Lube up the new seal with a few drops of engine oil and press it into place.

    Outstanding. Thanks for the advice guys. My next question was going to be "Do I need to pull the engine to replace the seal?"

    If the answer was yes, then I was probably going to just live with the oil leak for as long as I could. Simply removing the old seal pushing the new seal into place sounds like something I could do.

    Thanks again!
