Thread: Other Honda Speedometers - Work?

My 1981 CT70 is missing the speedo and has a round bracket. Will other honda speedos work in this with little or no modification? Any recommendations on an inexpensive piece that will work?

Source a used round speedo from another year CT70, should be a direct bolt-in replacement.

No, we had that problem with my 81, you have to have an 80's speedo.

Is there something else I can change about the system to use other years? IE: could i change the sending mechanism to match the year speedo and have it work? 80s speedo is tough to find!

What, specifically, was the problem? To the best of my knowledge, all CT70 speedos are calibrated to the same revs-per-mile spec and used the same drive cable.

correct, but they are slightly smaller with a rim on it.
