    Packing hubs

Just so I understand the Honda service manual correctly, it tells me to pack the inner hub completely with grease before re-installing the spacer tubes and bearings. I am about to put in new sealed bearings and re-assemble the wheels. Is this necessary? If so, anybody got suggestions on the right type grease? Just standard bearing grease? As long as I have a captive audience, I would also like to know the preferred lube for speedo/odometer gears while I'm rebuilding an H model speedo.

    Thanks as always,

You don't need to pack anything with grease when using sealed bearings. They're lubed for life. Not a bad idea to lightly grease the distance collar (spacer), otherwise it'll rust.
