Question Paint help and carb question

Two questions that I hope someone can help me with:
    1) I'm fixing up a 71 Trail 70 3speed auto for my son. I want him to go out on the trails and have some fun, so I'm not trying to do a correct restoration, just mechanical and cosmetic freshening. I have the bike all appart and have sanded and primered the frame. Is there an off the shelf Blue that is fairly close to the factory blue?
    2) The last owner purchased a new carb, which is good, but it is only set up for one fuel line -can I just get a "Y" conector for the 2 tank lines and go with a single one to the carb?
    Thanks in advance, Glen

    Two into one petcock:

Matching blue color: House of Kolor Kandy Sapphire Blue. If you haven't painted Kandy paints before, it's not fun.

If you just want a rider, paint the bike any color you want!

I agree with the paint the color you like idea, im restoring a 71 H and even tho im not going with original color it is going to be very close. The problem with the Y system for the carb, (although yes it will work) you will lose your reserve i think. Dean

Dan is correct, both with the color and the assessment of the project. House of Kolor is top-quality paint, I use it almost exclusively. It is, however, expensive and fiendishly tricky to apply correctly. The CT70 is not easy to paint because of all the odd curves, kandy colors require perfect application to get the color even. What's even trickier is the way the color is "developed" with subsequent coats of candy midcoat over a silver metallic basecoat. Done correctly, candy colors are stunning, especially in daylight.

You can get reasonably close to candy colors with a "near candy" metallic. They're still on the expensive side, but are nearly goof-proof as far as eveness of color application. These are, in essence, automotive base/clear paint systems with the color & ultrafine metallic all in one.

For that matter, you can use standard base/clear automotive paint. Some current car colors would look very nice on a CT70. If you're setting the bike up as a young rider's first bike and you expect it to see a lot of paint damage in due course of being ridden & enjoyed, then you might be best off with Duplicolor air-dry urethane in rattlecans. It's not as durable but costs a fraction of the other paints mentioned and they offer a wide selection of colors. The less durable finish may be a blessing if you plan on repainting within the forseeable future as it'll be easier to remove.

    Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I want the bike to look good, but I don't want my son to worry about using it, so I may just go the rattle can route to keep it simple.
Do I understand that the two gas lines exist so that one is the main and the other the reserve? In other words its not like my roadbike, which taps the two sources with the petcock on the tank -the T70 moves the petcock to the carb?
I'm sure that I'll be back with more questions as I start putting this bike back together.
    Thanks again, Glen

One is the main, and one is the reserve. You are correct. The petcock on a stock CT70 is on the carb. If you are running an aftermarket CT70 carb, it will have one inlet, and you'll need the cheap dual feed petcock I linked in my earlier post in this thread.
