    Powder coat on wheels

I blasted them with glass and I believe they're ready for PC. My Father-in-law is taking a sprint car chassy to the powder coater soon and he's gonna help me get them done.
Looking for a little advice here I know there are some experienced folks out there that can help me out.
I'm a painter and this is my 1st time with PC. FIL says the guy uses rally wheel silver to do them. Looks a little dark to me. Is there a color name or # that matches Cloud Silver? How do the hubs take the heat with the steel sleeves? They need to be the same color.
Any do's and dont's would be appreciated.

I don't know anything about the color, but make sure there is no oil, or grease in the hub. When heated the grease runs out and ruins the paint job. I also don't think the 400 degree heat will bother the hubs, just make sure to degrease them they are pretty porous.

I just looked at the picture you have the tape won't stop the oil/grease from leaking out. just an FYI. I think I have made all the mistakes.

Ps. What color white is that on the tank in your avatar?

Mike is right on...Degreasing is the most important part PC-ing the wheel area. The heat will not damage them.

Check Flash's post on the PC color he uses if he doesn't chime in first.

My local PC guy did it in " Wheel Silver" and thought is was spot on, not sure what the actual color was. But was $70 back in 06, bot the same as I could buy new from DRATV.

Thanks for the replies guys. That means you too Karen. Hope you're not insulted. You are well respected by me.
I spent a lot of time degreasing/ cleaning before I blasted them. The duct tape holds up pretty well during blasting. You can hit it a few times and doesn't tear it apart. I left it on to show the PCer areas to keep it off of.
The white on the tank is 01' S10 I used on my wifes running boards at the time. I think Ford had a white in the late 70's early 80's that would be a better match. I remember seeing it on an old Econoline bike hauler.
It's a birthday gift from the inlaws, so spending the time doesn't bother me.

I did the same as you with the duct tape. I thought it would stop the grease, oil from leaking out of the axle area because I wasn't sure I had gotten all the grease out of that area. In the end, when it was baked the oil leaked and I had to do it all over, that was the only reason I mentioned it.

You're right Mike, can't be too clean. I may shoot it down with some braklean or carb cleaner before he gets 'em.

Dropped em off at the coater today. Should get them back at the end of the week.
Choosing a color was pretty easy. I had a hub in original paint and a wheel with new Cloud Silver on it. I picked a color that split the difference between the colors. Here it is Tiger Drylac - Bengal Silver 49/99999. Now I've got to get on ordering parts.
