    rectifier

I would like to start by stating I am a total rookie...
I bought this bike from a guy that moved back to KY from Vegas. He converted the 49cc engine over to a lifan 125cc engine. last thing to do is wire up the RECTIFIER. There are 4 wires to plug into this thing. The original harness does not match up. How can I determine what color wire connects to what prong on this thing. It looks exactly like a Honda kazuma scooter gy6 ATV volt regulator rectifier....
What should I do?, I can get it running with the original. But will not idle and back fires, etc... IT IS SICK! PLEASE HELP!
    thanks!

I apoligize for piling on - but will the rectifier keep a bike from running? I tested my original 1972 CT70 K1 to find it was bad and replaced it with a totally different (but correct according to DRATV) and it will not start, it ran fine before and is getting spark and fuel.

I thought the rectifier only pertained to lights.
