    reproduction vin tag problem

Hi all again, Iam working on my 73 project trying to get it back together after paint, I ordered the aluminum reproduction vin tag from chp and had it engraved with the numbers, I went to install it tonight and its to small, the holes for the rivets do not line up, Iam guessing at this point the vin tag is different on a 73, if so is there anyone making a reproduction aluminum tag.

I think i have one of CHP's at home.i'll check tonight and see and compare it to an earlier model but i think a '73 will be the same as earlier models, excluding the early '69 silver tags.Maybe the CHP plates are a different size than original, being aftermarket it wouldn't surprise me.

If you still have the original on the bike you might try as i did on one and it looked great.I bought one from Jerry's which has the build date on it,then i cut out a window for the stamped vin numbers and applied it over the original vin tag.It was the exact same size as original and you can barely see the cutout window and you still have your original vin stamp.
I'll check size tonight and let you know.

Those are thin and not on the tin/aluminum like factory installed. We are working on these as we speak, stay tuned. Maybe next week.

Haven't seen the "final" product yet, but a couple of the preliminary ones and they are almost spot on identical. I would like to say a special "Thank You" to our very own Scooter, he's the man. Along with Daniel my laser engraver, graphic artist, wizard, we wouldn't be as close as we are. Thanks
