    Shifter question

Can i get to the mechanical end of the shifter by taking the right side engine cover off. If not what else has to come off. I did order a manual, but I just dont have it yet. Thanks

If you mean the cover that your kickstarter is on the answer is Yes. A word of caution . When you take that side cover off a few pieces of the clutch adjusting mechanism will fall out. You will want to go to the resources and links forum and click on the parts catalog. Go to the section in there on the clutch mechanism and parts and you will see what you are in for.

Are the internal shifter parts on the left side or the right side of the engine?

You will see them if you take that right side cover off. Like I said you better go to that parts diagram section and you will see what you will be dealing with. You are also going to need an impact wrench and hammer to get those cover bolts loose. You will also probably need a new side cover gasket once that cover is removed.

    Wink

That would also be a good time to clean the oil filter and screen.
