    sooty plug

    is it commen for a rebuilt motor to have a black sooty plug while breaking in,valve adjustment,timing,carb settings good and runs strong,is there a normal head temperature that can be watched,where exactly would you check

    How far did you go with the rebuild, its possible its burning oil, was the cylinder honed with new rings?

    Yes cylinder honed,new rings,seals bearings,valves lapped,carb rebuilt,new points and condenser

    how tight did the piston fit in the cylinder did you measure ring end gap? was the piston replaced?
