    Steering Stop A Problem?

I've had my '70 CT70 KO since 1971, I learned to ride on this bike and dumped it ALOT. I got it as a Christmas present and rode it all winter on the snow, ice, frozen rutted ground, that turned to mud on warmer days, seemed to be an accident waiting to happen around every corner. One of those crashes caused my steering stop tab on the frame to break off. Has anyone else had a problem with this, or do I get the prize for the hardest and most consistent crasher? I haven't ridden this bike for years...make that decades, and plan to weld a new tab on before I do.

Won't comment as to your standing on the 10 most frequent crashers list. A broken steering stop is far from uncommon. If you have basic welding & metalworking talents, the repair is easy enough, but strictly a roll-your-own proposition. No one supplies ready-made repair kits.

    • Owning a 1970 K0 since 1971
    • Breaking off the steering stop

I got a complete KO from a buddy of mine with a box of misc. parts that i later decided to restore. The bike actually had my original H motor on it when i got the bike and i had it's original 3 speed motor on my H frame. These were traded probaly 30 years ago..One problem with the KO bike was the steering stop was broken off. After going through the misc. parts i found the broken stop piece in the box. Couldn't believe it didn't get lost in the past 30 years.
