    Throttle cable

When I installed my new engine the carb required a shorter throttle cable. I thought I had this done. I used a small torch and un sweat the cable end and moved it up about 1/8" inch. I connected it back to the slide and had a look. Here's what I saw.

I thought I was done. But then after having problems not getting decent wide open throttle [WOT] rpm's I decided to have a second look. Thanks to another members stunning crystal ball attributes.... I discovered this!!!! This is the veiw from the other side of the carb. It was NOT opening all the way!! Dang it! Those darn details will get you every time! It was good for 4 mph easy.

By the way....... being as text and pics can be so deceiving... what I am getting at is from one view it looked fine. But make sure you look both ways through the catb to make sure you are getting full throttle before you start changing jet sizes gear ratios ect ect ect etc...
    Ride on.

I'm new to this mini-trail world and just got 2 used bike. I'm rebuilding the CT70-1978.

Looking at your second pic, the one with the sleeve in the way... If it was done properly, the sleeve have to move all the way up and be flush with top of carb? I know I'll have to fix a damage throttle cable so I'm starting to ask question..

    Thanks.

But, that`s not a stock carb, is it? It`s too clean! Anyways, I`m sure the carbs from my `70 and `72 don`t look like that inside....or do they...?

Yes it should go all the open. But don't shorten the cable too much or then it won't go all the way back to idle. I noticed you can sweat the end on shorter and leave some of the cable on this way if you go too short there's hope.

It's not a stock carb no. Shang Wenh or however the heck you spell that freaking name.
