What fills the hole located above and slightly left of the chain sprocket? This is an SL70 engine too. The other 2 CT70 (auto) engines have this hole filled as part of the casting, no void/hole at all so I cant compare.

I figured that a bolt went there, but wasnt absolutely sure (I figured this because it is threaded). I would imagine the bolt shown below is the one that fits there. Its about an inch long and threads in.
How is the sprocket bad though? The bike has ran excellent before and ripped past my CT.

I just happen to have my Clymer's here and...yup, bolt, washer and plug.

thats the bolt, how did it come out,or did you take it?spray the bolt off with brakekleen and a shot in the hole, hit it with a little compressed air if possible or wash the bolt off with soap and water, dry it then a dab of a little blue locktight on the bolt.should be tight but dont kill it. the sprocket is hooked and heavily worn.i would buy a gold hd 420 regina chain on ebay and replace both sprockets as a set.
nice pic Flash!

Flash do you and Don sleep with those manuals?
Mike
Its possible that I took it out and didnt realize it. I have been doing work internally on it. I will do what you said with the bolt.
I will also tell my brother about the sprocket, its his bike I've been working on.
Thanks flash for the picture. I looked right passed that in my manual.
The neutral switch is broken. The mounting plate is missing and the retaining screw has the head sheared off. See the picture below for what it should look like. (Picture found in another threa in this forum)

Don't let the washer on the bolt fool you either. It is a special washer and only goes on one way. If you look at it closly you will see that the outer edge is tapered on one side. The tapered end goes against the case, or oppisite of the head of the bolt. Just like stated above, snug it tight but don't over do it.
I didn't even realize that the screw was sheared. The previous owner stripped just about every screw on this engine. That neutral switch is just for the indicator light on the gauge right? My brother doesn't have a gauge on this bike, it was missing when we he bought it.
