I'm not familiar enough yet with small singles to be able to feel shift points. With stock gearing and tires what speeds are redline areas in each gear?
thanks!

the redline is right on the speedo, under the speed. 1 2 3Originally Posted by chris_s

I shift when it stops pulling hard, theres no time to be looking at the speedo.
ahh ok. my 81 speedo is completely different, I don't think it has those markings, but this gives me the right idea.
as for shifting when it stops pulling hard, that's what I usually do in my racecar, but the 70 doesn't pull hard to begin with heh

Ive had my CT70K0 for 18 years and Im thinking "that aint on mine" I go out and look and there it is. You learn something new very day, never noticed it before, I guess because I never look at it until Im in 4th gear.![]()
The first one I posted is very valuable, because it was a nos 4 speed.
my first 4 speed had the numbers and i thought thats what they were for but the engine sounds like it will explode if you run it that high.
I must have missed the part where it pulls hard, its 70cc's. I can get all the rest except 4th at 3700 ft & 195 lbs, 42 is it.
-----our families have owned 2 -71 KO 3 speeds since new & my dad claims when they were new him & my uncle had them to almost 50 ,,,,,,,which I highly doubt ,but he still keeps insisting yes they did----we do however have the original owners manual & it even says top speed is 47mph ---- I have had them to about 42 ,but more seems to be hurting the old girl,, actually even that seems hard on them--- I basically think those markings for each gear are the absolute max revs for sure & it's sounds like they are going to explode to me also................Originally Posted by bluebanshee
