Thread: is a 77' Z50a mini trail 79' sl70 trail MORPH possible?

So I bought the 79' XL70 yesterday to try and salvage the top end and use it on my 77' Z50a. the two bikes are in different locations for now, as im in the middle of moving. so i cant take measurements and compare

So I guess my question is what kind of combinations (if any) are possible to swap over to the Z50a frame (i.e. swingarm, forks etc.)

and if the swingarm and forks are interchangeable will the stock Z50a tires fit the xl70 forks?

Ive been reading other threads and would appreciate any suggestions and or pictures of similar mods

Just wanted to know if there are any other frankenstein bikes out there.

so i started the mods today. had to grind a little off the stock swingarm mounts on the 50 to create clearance for the xl 70 swingarm. Also had to weld a modified bolt to the swingarm for the z50 drum brake, and extended the brake arm. Oh yeah, I bought a used pitster pro 4 speed. The old motor was burnt up and had a $700 parts list. saved 500 bones.

I plan on raising the gas tank to accomidate the throttle cable/carb and while im at it im gonna try and mount the bigger xl70 seat. maybe even push back the rear susspension mounts. will post pics soon.

xl70 forks
xl70 seat/frame
xl70 swingarm
480 x 8 snow tires

ive got a 15t front and 37t rear on order
just a few things left to finish up
