Thread: Bigger Carb for 88cc?????

I am looking for a bigger carb to use w/ my 88cc big bore kit. I have Dr. ATV's 88cc kit, and a larger straight through exhaust. The carb is a 19mm Keihin knock off. I recently changed the exhaust, and I cant get it to run right. I've gone from a 74 to a 94 main jet and everythin in between and the plug is white @ wide open, running lean, and it has a bad miss wide open, ran perfect before the exhaust change. If I put in a 84 it runs good, no miss, but way lean. I've tried float settings, and idle mixture to help compensate


Is a 20mm carb large enough?? what do you recommend. I am looking for a name brand carb, not some knock off crap.

Dratv also has both the Mikuni VM20 and VM22 carbs. I think either of these would be a great item for your setup.

If you want a VM22, I have one here, in great condition I took of my CT70 that had the three wheeler motor in it. Very clean and in fantastic condition. I want $50 shipped for it.

My buddy uses a VM20 on a 106 dratv build and it absolutely rips as well and I've been preaching the VM20 and 22 carbs for years to anyone who will listen.

So, that's my recommendation. one or the other...but I won't recommend one over the other.

I like the Keihin PC20's as well and they are really easy to tune.

Fatcaaat-- What jetting is he running in the carb? And is he using the needle that comes in the carb out of the box? I want to get a VM20 as well, but want to know if I should order some optional needles for it.
