green dragon rear shocks, anyone try them?

look at these rear shocks on ebay

eBay Motors: SHOCKS - HONDA MINI TRAIL CT70 CT 70 MINITRAIL NEW !!! (item 270242181031 end time Jun-09-08 1834 PDT)

I've bought from green dragon before, with good results. My original shocks are somehow locked up and won't travel, so anything better than that would be an improvement.

I know I could spend a lot more on fancy shocks at mytrailbuddy, but can anyone comment on these?

the only ones I can recommend are Takegawa's or Kitaco's, 330 mm

Most of the chinese ones are rubbish and rust like a madman in a couple of weeks!

    Patrick,
Those look like the Kitaco adjustable shocks I bought for $100 plus S/H. Great shocks, 4 adjustment settings and a little bit longer than OEM. Nice chrome, good looking and comfortable riding shock.

well you said it, they look like kitaco's
I look like a 26 year old guy, but I'm only 21 (and I feel 40 because of Rugby injuries)
Do you know what I mean?

Chris: I would definitly go for the Takegawa's if you could find them!

I bought the same exact set from them,I like the shocks. The top mount of the shock where it bolts up is a little bit thinner then stock.i used a hard rubber washer to take up the space. They're fully adjustable.I've only had them a couple of months so i dont know how they will hold up in the long run.Good luck

LOL!! Could not have said it any better myself.

Stock OEM shocks on these bikes were nicely made, but the springs and valving were optimized for a 100lb (45kg) rider. Almost anything would be an improvement, for just the heavier springs alone...which is pretty much all you get with cheap shocks. Even the low-end Kitacos are lame.

Real shocks are a lot of bang for the buck and once you've ridden a bike with a pair of them fitted, there's no going back. A goodly number of riders have yet to experience this for themselves. Takegawa and high-end Kitaco shocks are good units, but pricey. Daytonas are more reasonable. What all three of these brands have in common is the fact that they don't manufacture shocks, they re-brand. What they're selling are mostly Japanese Showa shocks (OEM equipment on a number of Honda models and of excellent quality) and it is possible to source the same shocks sold under any of these four monikers, at widely varying price points.

so are the low end (60 pound) kitaco and takegawa shocks considered good, or just the ones worth more than my entire bike?
I'm trying (failing) to keep my bike ridable, but without investing so much that I could've got a fullsize bike out of the deal

I'm quite pleased with the power coming out of my lifan110, and my new tires are adequate for trail and road, now smoothing out the ride would be a plus
