Handlebars -- different options other than stock/original

I've never messed much with bars. Anyone ever try using risers and installing bars from a mini XR, CR or something like that? Is it a headache? Any suggestions?

Jees, that was a little harsh, anyway your link is about stock-ish bars. He sounds like he wants mini dirtbike bars.

    Try reading........nevermind.

Yeah, i really hate it when i post a thread and someone makes a contributing response within 20 minutes. I much prefer personal attacks with no real contribution to the thread.

Anyway, the later CT70s came with the bars i think you're talking about. The "BMX" bars came on 79' and up (don't quote me) and i believe they need a different bar clamp (again, not sure) than the k0. I'm not sure if the crf bars will fit, but the later bmx bars are pretty much the same thing.

All the CT's from 1979 on came with a BMX style handlebar, which required a different upper fork bridge than the pre-1978 versions and two aluminum clamps to work. If you can find the fork bridge and clamps, just about any 1 7/8" bar could be made to work with some modifications to cables and such.

Just make sure you don't get the grips so low they hit your knees when you try to turn.

Gentlemen...please...let's take a moment to regain composure. Communicating via text is very different than doing so verbally and things can explode all too easily. So far, this board has been a model of civility, a condition far more fragile than most probably realize. We're all here because of a common interest in small Hondas. Anyone seeking conflict & acrimony already has the choice of Fox News, CNN, MSNBC etc.

    Back on topic...

I'm pretty sure that the `79 upper fork tree is the same as K1-`78, since the fork legs are the same, mechanically. Fitting BMX-type bars to a K1-`78 only requires replacing the folding bar clamp with a pair of single stud-mounted split bar clamps. Most fixed bars have the knurled sections spaced about the same, though there are slight variations. That can be tweaked to an exact fit, and bar height adjusted, by simply having spacers machined from billet aluminum or mild steel.

The K0 is a different animule... that one-piece upper tree/handlebar mount is unique to the early style, mechanical fork. Aside from changing-out the entire fork assembly for a later, hydraulically damped version, you'd need to either modify the upper tree or have a custom replacement machined. From a practical standpoint, the K0 fork requires OEM-type folding bars.

    Adapter

    Here is something I found...

    http://www.theatvshop.com/.sc/ms/bdd...Bar%20Adapters

I like how the product description says they will fit ANY CT70. Things that make you go hmmmm? Of course, anything will fit any CT70 with allot of persuasion. Based on what you are saying, RacerX, they probably do fit any BUT the KO!
