Thread: Handlebars for one piece top clamp?

What about K3-78 bars? Will these fit into a K0 clamp?

I haven't had a K0 for years and can't keep track of this stuff. I thought some of the earlier fold-down bars were longer at the point where they enter the top clamp and some of the later model bars aren't compatible.

Okay, on Dan's request I'll jump into this fray...

In terms of physical interchange, any OEM-spec folding bar will fit any OEM folding bar clamp. One-piece K0 or 2-piece K1-later makes no difference, the bars will slide right in & seat properly. That said, the locating tabs are clocked differently on the K0 one-piece top tree, at the 12:00 & 6:00 positions. K1 & later have them closer to 1:00 & 7:00. The same pair of bars will have a more pronounced "V" between R&L, and the overall grip end width will be greater, when fitted into anything other than a K0 clamp. As far as specific bar configurations over the years, there have been too many subtle & not-so-subtle variations...none of them documented...to make any hard, fast, calls. The only exceptions have to do with the number of integrally welded lever perches, per pair. If you find a set that you like, use them. Z50 bars can be used, too, if desired. They're just shorter than the CT70 versions.
