Has anyone changed over to tapered fork bearings and which kit is best?

I was thinking of changing out the steering ball bearings for the tapered type.

How beneficial is the mod and which kit is best, the one from Dr ATV ("All Balls" brand with seals) or the one from CHP?

What else would I need to complete this mod besides the bearings and races? The "All Balls" DrATV set comes with the seals and I am not sure if the CHP one does.

Besides the seals that come with the DrATV set would I also need the "Blue" colored dust seal that they sell?

Any tips about performing this mod would be most grateful!

    Thanks!

I've installed both types. The All Balls brand seems to fit steering stems more consistently. Probably either would be fine, certainly better than the OE bicycle-type loose bearings. The early All Balls sets had no lower dust seal. 16,000+ miles later and the original upper shield alone has been adequate. I do go offroad, occasionally. Can't remember the last time I had to adjust the preload.

I use the name brand mainly because a double-sawbuck is not enough to overcome good old-fashioned gearhead superstition (mine)

I will be watching this thread as 'I Need Help'

My 'All Balls' just arrived yesterday and I need to figure out how to install them. (I will also do some searching)
