I recently purchased a 1970 CT70, it came with two parts bikes and one big block Chinese 3 valve engine, the guy stated that it was a 110cc (He bought it from another gentleman who bought the engine new), couple quick questions;
1)How do I dentify what Manufacturer, year and size this engine is.
2)The engine came as a long block, no harness, intake, kick start lever,shift lever or carb,can I find a all in one kit to hook this up ?
3)Will it be worth my while to go through all the trouble only to find it is going to only last two thousand miles (from what I have read, these engines are "grenades" waiting to detonate).
4)Need to find out shift pattern.
My plan is to resurrect one of the parts bikes (the 1970 CT70 I got going and gave to my 14 year old son on his birthday last week, he was ecstatic !) for myself, it has a rebuildable stock engine in it, I figure I would use the winter months to build a trail bike for some of my extended camping trips.
Now mind you I am no stranger to engine swaps, I modified my 1974 VW Bus Westphalia a few yaers back, swapped out the stock engine and tranny for a 1966 Chevy 110 Corvair engine and transaxle, after putting on more than 200,000 miles on it it still runs strong.
The numbers on the engine are;
Case #
1P39FMD
050681045
Sticker on top of case
70943656-5

Is there a website I can go to that lists these engines by year and make ?
