    Arrow modification for a ct90 to run without a battery?

    Is there anything out there that can allow a ct90 to start and run without a battery? I've seen websites that say the points and condensor can be replaced with a CDI ignition. Has any one done this? The '71 ct70 that i've owned for the last 9 years has never had a battery and it will start first or second kick after not being ridden for almost a year. I dont know if they are all like that or if mine has a modification to it. I just want my two ct90s to be able to start like that. I'm sick of buying batterys. the 81 or 82 on ct110 does not need a battery to start. I think it has the CDI ignition or a magneto or something. can this be thrown into a 90?

    Im not 100% sure about how this works, they can be run without a battery. All you have to do is run a jumper wire where the battery plugs in, i have no idea which wires but surely someone on here will know more.

    Yes, I'm pretty sure you can run these bikes without a battery - I did it on a suzuki SP200 for a long time. However- there are disadvantages. All of the lights are dim if they work at all, the horn is very quiet- not something you'd want to do on the street, but fine for trails during daytime.

    I believe you can simply bolt the positive and negative posts together. What I did - they used to sell a small plastic box called a 'battery eliminator' but I'm pretty sure that is all it did- what else could it do? It was only $20.00 so I bought it. If you cannot find it by searching- just hook the pos and neg together and try it. It wouldnt hurt anything.

    Another alternative- and one that allows you to keep all lights and horn: figure out some way to fit in a larger battery. Larger batteries have always performed much better than stock for me- lasting several years instead of one. Everything works even better. Make sure the battey is secure, tied down firmly, get the biggest you can fit as long as it's 12 volt. Make sure it is filled to the proper level with purified water, then slow charge it till it is 100% (get a small battery charger, $25.00, that will read out a % of charge) do this when the battery is brand new. Even in Kansas, when I lived there, batteries lasted a long time when I started doing these things. Little things make big differences on small motorcycles.

    there may be a way of modding it but usually you wont get a stock ct90/st90 to start without a battery, ct70 no problem but the ct90s are battery dependant to start. I wouldnt wire your + and - wires together
