Wanted: the quietest muffler possible for ct70/Lifan125cc

I use my ct for work and it's too loud with the stock 30 year old muffler.

The stock '89 z50 in our fleet has the decible level I'd like to obtain with the ct. The z50 is very quiet.

I'll build whatever is the quietest design: small car muffler? many motorcycle baffles mouned in line? some industrial baffle that is long and skinny like the stock baffle?

Loss of horsepower is not an issue, I'd just have to be able to jet it to run clean so I don't think I could run the z50's baffle with the 125cc engine.

    Don't know though...

I think a stock relacement would most likely be your best option for low db's....with the bigger motor, tho'..from what I've read here, you may have to do some mods (like you've done in your other pics) with the rear mount plate. Check mytrailbuddy. They have 2 versions of the stocker...one completely stock (most quiet) and a modded one (the thumper) for better flow, but same look....

Scroll down a little for the exhaust systems....

They have VERY cool new exhaust systems too (not stock looking tho), including a dual muffler sys in stainless steel..it may be very quiet too...the accompanying video certainly sounds good...might be worth your time to check out..

    Hope this helps..

Depending on how handy you are it's quite easy to quieten down your bike. What i did was find a piece of scrap steel tube that was a nice fit for the end of the stock exhaust (without the baffle fitted) then i welded a washer onto the end of this piece of steel which reduced the outlet to around a 1/2" hole, then you want to get some of that heavy duty type steel wool the kind of stuff that is like a big ball of steel shavings, stuff half of one of these into your tube , and then insert this tube into the exhaust with the washer on the outside end and either tack weld it in place or screw or rivet it in.Before you attach it jam it in and test how much steel wool you need to get the noise or lack of noise you want. Lasts around 6 months for me, but i just use this to get my loud bikes registered, plus im a tightarse and this only costs about a buck.Good Luck

I'll confirm this. I used to use the steel wool trick on my ITA race car to make it tolerable when not in full race mode, definitely quiets things down for the right price

    Whisper quiet

The Honda C70 exhaust is whisper quiet. Definitely not a bolt on and go operation.

I think I'm going to go this with a new stock muffler and see how it sounds.

I see chrome ones on ebay for under $50

I see black ones (with chrome heat-shields) from retaillers for a little more.

Do you know if one is quieter than the other or of a particular brand that is the quietest?
