Maybe we should set a date, How about early August. The 4th of July weekend has a lot of family stuff going on.

Miller Ferry Boat Lines started running yesterday to Put-In-Bay. You guys need to keep in mind that if it is windy and rough seas, they may not take your bikes on the ferry. We have had to take them over in the back of the truck when it was nasty on the lake.
I assumed that they normally hauled cars & trucks across on the ferry. It'd be damn difficult carrying much of anything over outside of a passenger vehicle. Have I (we) missed something along the way?
They always take passenger vehicles but we usually just take the bikes over for the day and it is "weather permitting". The nice thing about taking a small bike is that they only chage us for a moped not a motorcycle.
July 4th is when the bulk of riders from southeast MI & northern OH show up there. I'd expect the place to be really jumpin' at this time. Not my first choice, but that's when the big turnout takes place. If you can't change it, then better to roll with it. Having a location that's suitable for even stock bikes, isolated from any major urban area, and within a 150 miles for a lot of riders (covers 5 states and a portion of Ontario) is unique. An August weekend is workable, but it'd be a different event altogether. Might be worth considering both dates, a 2-hour drive is close enough for a 3-day weekend trip.
This is a good souce for current info on Put-In-Bay.

Kinda surprised that this thread has fallen off the radar. Any regular attendees of this event have anything to say? This could be/turn into one of the premier small bike events in the country...just need to post up the dates. FWIW, I plan to be there.![]()
What hotel would everyone be staying at? Or do you all stay off the island in a hotel or campground? If you stay in a hotel, what do you do with your bikes while sleeping? Can they be brought into the room?
Hey Hey Hey!
I am one of the original attendees. Yes, we are planning another trip this year. We are all planning to be there the weekend of the Fourth of July, thats Thursday July 2nd--->Sunday July 5th
We are renting the floor of a house that is close to downtown again. You can always camp at the state campground on the island (if there are sites left) check here:
The campground is called "South Bass island" that is Put-in-bays island name

looks like there are some campsites left!
I will wake up the other guys and let them know about this thread
We will probably have 6 trail 70's for sure going down
we always rent the same house where we can park bike in the back away from prying eyes. I also lock mine up with a cable to the house structure.
